Governor Michael M. Keon sponsored the enrolment of one thousand four hundred fifteen (1415) individuals from the 24 barangays of the municipality of San Nicolas to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PHIC) program “Philhealth para sa Masa”.
The recipients were individuals with income below the poverty threshold, orphaned children, senior citizens living alone and barangay tanods.
Gov. Keon distributed the Philhealth IDs to the recipients on January 22, 2010 at the F. E. Marcos Mini Cultural & Sports Center with representatives from Philhealth Office Laoag Branch, municipal officials headed by Mayor Alfredo P. Valdez, Jr. and social welfare office personnel.
Said activity is in line with the municipality’s thrusts to provide better access to healthcare benefits from the different health establishments and agencies to ensure that all people will be given equal treatment as far as health problems are concerned. At the same time, Philhealth para sa Masa is the municipality’s program to put into action the Millennium Development Goal of the present administration. ~dmvilla
