On his 7th year as local chief executive of San Nicolas, Mayor Alfredo P. Valdez, Jr., once again graced the invitation of the Annak ti San Nicolas Hawaii as Guest of Honor of the organization’s Induction Ceremony and Fund-Raising. Valdez flew to Honolulu on September 8 and upon arrival, met with the organizational leaders headed by ASN President, Mr. Gerald Butay for a meeting.
On September 11, Mayor Valdez flew to the County of Maui for a dinner program sponsored by the Annak ti San Nicolas of Hawaii – Maui Chapter at the Seaside Restaurant in Kahului. He served as guest speaker for the occasion wherein he presented a municipal development report afterwhich he was acknowledged by the officers headed by Mrs. Tessie Gapas-Layugan, organization president. Also present was County of Maui Director of Finance, Mr. Danny Agsalog and wife. The organization donated $ 1,200.00 for the San Nicolas Express Bin-i Foundation.

After Information, Education, and Communication activities were done in the 24 barangays and public market and with heads of schools, teachers, and business establishments, the “No Waste Segregation, No Collection” policy of the municipal government began to gain headway which was started on September 6, 2011. The Solid Waste Management Board said this policy will solve the garbage woes, attain the waste diversion goal of the municipality, and as a mitigation scheme on climate change.
